Tally ho… Saturday, 9 September

I think we all knew I wasn’t going shopping for wedding dresses. My role will be paying for it. By all reports a wonderful time was had by all and some lovely dresses were tried on. No decision on a final design though.

It’s all very confidential

By way of contrast, I was up early and caught the train into London. My destination was the RAF Museum at Hendon. It was an aerodrome during WWII but is all housing estate now, with a museum in the middle.

The highlight was getting the chance to sit in a Spitfire cockpit. I booked this on line and arrived a bit early. Because the place was basically deserted at the time my 15-minute slot extended to a half hour.

I was worried that I’d booked this

Only interesting if you’re into military aircraft. Luckily I am. Where else can you sit in an actual WWII-era aircraft and be encouraged to play with the switches and knobs while someone explains what they all do.

Fortunately not… chocks away!

The rest of the day was spent taking hundreds of photos of such interesting things as aircraft cockpits and similar paraphernalia. I’ll only post a small selection.

And back to Brighton.

Another hot day in the UK, 30-ish degrees and humid. It’s been hotter here than back in Australia. According to Emily they had a cold summer (not so for mainland Europe) and it’s hotter now than it’s been all summer.

Pizza for tea and watched a few games of Rugby.

That’s it, nearly back up to date.
