Well, we’re home! Touched down at 6:35am in Brisbane after a relatively uneventful flight, which is how you want them.

We were an hour late leaving Gatwick, which only meant the layover between flights was 2 hours, instead of 3. Then we were an hour late getting away from Dubai but they made the time up fairly easily. The trip data said that we had a 300 km/hr tailwind from somewhere over the Indian Ocean to very nearly Brisbane. We were hiking along at 1200 km/hr!

While we slept okay on the plane, it’s still a bit fitful, so I for one plan an early night and a sleep-in. Then I have to catch a plane back to Mount Isa and face reality on Monday.

Some valuable imports from ye olde England

Some reflections.

  • The wedding was great, which was just as well, as it was the cornerstone of the whole thing. I think everyone had a good time and enjoyed themselves.
  • Brighton is the place to go if you want to see eyebrow raising sights, of the weird people kind.
  • Despite the traffic and overcrowding, the villages and countryside of England are always worthwhile to visit.
  • It’s England, it’s going to rain. Just accept that and move on.
  • I’ll never get sick of the buses.
  • Art trails are great, sort of a combination treasure hunt/orienteering exercise. Do one if you get the chance. I hope they become a thing in Australia.

Until the next trip, Steve and Michelle.
