All our adventures seem to wind up back in Brighton, for obvious reasons. Apart from catching up with Emily and Chris again, we had to drop the car back this time.
We left the accommodation in Chadlington fairly early and went into Chipping Norton for fuel and breakfast. Fuel wasn’t an issue but nowhere was open for breakfast at 8:30am, save the servo. We thought we’d head off down the road and find somewhere along the way. A bit easier said than done, as we were soon on the A40 and whistling towards London at 70 mph.
We took an off ramp and blundered into a village (Wheatley) outside of Oxford and found a very nice little place that was open. The Bruin Cafe, if you’re ever in the neighbourhood. We recommend it. That done, onwards to Brighton. We had to have the car back by 2pm, or we would be keeping it until Monday and explaining it’s absence to the Police, as the car hire place shuts for the weekend at 2pm on Saturday.
I noted that our so-called adventures had become very bland of recent times. No more nearly missing trains, or rushing to catch planes, or traipsing miles looking for non-existent attractions. It all seemed to being going very well. We had 4 hours to get the car back and it was only 2 ½ hours to Brighton. What could go wrong?
We messaged the accommodation people to see if we could drop our luggage off at 1pm, check in was 3pm, and they said we could. We were at the flat at 1pm and heading for the drop off place at 1:15pm. Plenty of time.
But what is going on with the traffic? It’s crawling. Turns out there was some big festival thing on down at the waterfront and the town was packed. Plus it was Saturday markets, plus the GPS said the hire place was somewhere else, I think it sent us to their old address via the busiest streets in town. Things were a little tense. I had to revert to driving towards the previous place we’d stayed at, as I knew where the drop off point was in relation to that. Made it with 5 minutes to spare!
Back to the flat, eventually as all the buses were disrupted, dinner with Emily and Chris at our place (thanks guys) and that was that for the day.
I took one photo all day. This is it.

Bye for now, Steve and Michelle
