Amelia arrived early on Monday morning, fresh from Shanghai. We found a cafe just up the road and had a decent breakfast. This country does know how to do a decent breakfast.
Then off down town for a wander around the Lanes, and the Laines. If you’re in the market for jewellery then the Lanes is the place to be. Almost every shop is a jewellery shop. The Laines by contrast seem to mainly sell clothes.

We weren’t really in the market for any of that, so the girls went off to see Emily and annoy her. I went off in a different direction to buy headphones. I didn’t really need headphones, I brought a perfectly good pair with me. But I left them on the plane… so I need headphones.
We bought week-long bus tickets and are getting around everywhere on the buses. Brighton has a brilliant bus system. There seems to be one along every couple of minutes and it takes no time to get around. Mostly it’s walkable, but the hills can be a bit savage, so bugger it, for £25 we can get on and off wherever and whenever for the week.

Some running around to get cake stuff to make the wedding cake. Then back to the flat for pizza and a relatively early night. It’s mid summer here (which explains the wind, rain and cold weather) and it’s not dark until gone 9pm, and light before 5am. I’m up before 5, so if I don’t get to bed reasonably early I’m yawning all day.

So, in summary, we did stuff all on Monday. We’ll see if we can do better tomorrow.
