Surprise, surprise. Another morning, another English breakfast. They’re not ridiculously big though, and they do hold me until the end of the day. And there’s still room in my clothes, so far.
Okay, quick wander (read bus) down to the Duck Shop, which was finally open. Got some ducks, which will largely remain secret for the time being, then train to Portsmouth.

You do need to check what you’re told here. What platform do I need for Portsmouth? Platform 2, next train 11:30am. It was Platform 2, but the next train was 10:43, about 5 minutes, which beats twiddling your thumbs for nearly an hour.
The on train information informed us that we’ll have to change at Barnham, this train doesn’t stop at Havant, the normal change station. Except it does stop at Havant, and we only had to wait a couple of minutes for the train to Portsmouth.

All good so far. We were on our way to the Naval Museum at Portsmouth Harbour. We’ve been there twice already but the place is huge. The two exhibits we hadn’t seen were the submarine and the explosives bunker. And even better, since we were here in September last year, the tickets were valid for re-entry for a year.
Tickets presented, thank you very much, all good, in you go. Tickets are a minimum of £36 per adult otherwise. Off to our attractions, which it turn out are … closed … on Monday and Tuesday. FFS. Didn’t think to check that before we left!

Oh well, we’re here. Might as well have a look around the Victory, again. Bad luck about that. It’s under restoration. You can view the restoration work, sort of. Check the photos. Not exactly a great reward for 1½ hours on the train.

Okay, let’s go and look at the Mary Rose. This is a good exhibition, even the second time around. If you don’t know the story, do a quick Google search, it’s worth the trouble. A few things have changed, and we did the 4D dive experience (no idea why it’s 4D, it’s 3D with the glasses). And I bought a tea towel. Don’t laugh, it’s the easiest thing to carry and takes up very little space, and it’ll get used.

And back to Brighton, to Emily and Chris’s for dinner. Then home to deal with the crazy lady in the downstairs flat. She has provided us with plenty of entertainment – and she’s genuinely bat shit crazy.
And thus ends Tuesday.
Stephen and Michelle.
