Took a while to get out of Dubai. We were all boarded and ready to go, then…

First up some passengers failed to show, so their stuff had to be offloaded. Then someone got sick and they decided to offload him, plus his family. Their luggage was spread over 5 containers, so they basically had to unload the plane and start again.

Meanwhile, the auxiliary power unit had failed, so there was no air conditioning. Why would you need it? In Dubai? I hope that the auxiliary power unit isn’t important, except when on the ground, as we left without it being fixed.

Two hours later we were finally off.

After all that it was pretty uneventful. Landed at Gatwick around 9pm. We were due in at 7:30 so made up a little bit of time.

We’re staying at 8 St George Terrace, Kemptown, if anyone cares to look that up on the map. Thin little terrace house. Another flat on the ground floor, up the stairs for the kitchen on one level, lounge and bath on the next and bedrooms up the top.

And stairs, lots of stairs.

There’s some weirdo in the upstairs window…
