The year that was
2016 was kind of a mixed year. Some good, some not so good. The high and lowlights being:
On the good side:
- Emily turned 21 in March. She had a party in Melbourne with a hippy theme. This all went very well.
- Michelle commenced a new job with Feros Aged Care in February.
- Emily completed her final year at University and officially graduated on 14 December with a Bachelor of Arts & Education.
- Amelia has completed her first year at Queensland University. She achieved two 7s and six 6s in her eight subjects (mark is out of 7). That's the equivalent of High Distinctions/Distinctions in all her subjects.
- Emily has scored a job with a secondary school in Brighton, England and commences on 3 January. This is initially a 12-month contract.
On the not so good:
- Stephen was made redundant on 16 November, so is out of a job for the time being. No excuses for not mowing the lawn or getting the newsletter finished.
- Stephen was diagnosed with prostate cancer in June and had a radical prostatectomy (i.e. they cut it out) in August. Blood tests in October indicate that PSA levels are undetectable, which is a good thing. Hopefully it is no more. More blood tests around the end of January to be sure.
- As a result of the above, Stephen's brother, Philip, went and had his prostate checked and also has prostate cancer! He is having surgery in mid-January.
